A Lamborghini-loving carpenter realised he was never going to have the cash to buy a £260,000 supercar – so he made one out of WOOD.
Super car fan Yu Jietao stripped the body off an electric car then redesigned it using hand-carved rosewood.
And after he hit the road in China’s Jiangxi province, he quickly attracted media attention – and numerous offers to buy the car.
He said: “One person offered me what I would consider to be a small fortune, and more than enough to buy a real hot rod but I decided I don’t want to sell it.
“My wife really loves it as well and so we decided to keep it.”
Police have warned that technically it isn’t licensed because it was not made by an approved car manufacturer.
But that has not deterred Yu, 26, who is planning to challenge the wooden supercardecision.
He said: “I didn’t really copy any car when I made it but I guess I wanted a sort of Lamborghini feel about it.
“It is a topless roadster so isn’t suitable for all weathers, and has beetle-wing doors. It measures about four-metres-long, 1.5 metres wide and is just 1.5 metres tall.”
