The owner of a luxury car hire firm has described his dismay after one of his most expensive vehicles was totalled in Luton.
Police were called to Selbourne Road at 7pm and officers arrived to find that a £210,000 Ferrari Italia 458 had crashed through a wall and was somehow wedged underneath a private hire car.
Remarkably no-one was injured in the collision.
At the time of the incident the supercar was on loan from Shoreham-On-Sea firm Prestige Lifestyle for £850 a day.
The 29-year-old man, who has not been named, who rented the vehicle told the company that it was to be used in a wedding.
He has lost the £5,000 deposit he placed at the time of booking the car, which had just 4,600 miles on the clock.
Prestige Lifestyle co-owner Jamie Ford said: “‘When I saw what had happened I was absolutely devastated.
‘They have done a really good job of crashing it and writing it off. It took three minutes for the insurance assessors to write it off.
“I just wish people had more respect for super cars.
“People need to realise that they are not invincible.”
