Shoppers Admire Gold Plated Lamborghini In Beijing Mall

This image has been circulated the web after The Telegraph posted it as a ‘Picture of the Day’. We think it has attracted so much attention because it’s such a random place to put a Lamborghini Gallardo, unless it’s part of a competition (in which case, we’ll have an entry form please).

There seems to be a trend for gold Lamborghinis. The last time we saw one was when an Aventador went to auction last year with a starting bid of $7.5 million making it the world’s most expensive car. Carved out of a 500-kilogram block of solid gold, the finished model contained 25 kilograms of the precious metal.

Although not made for the road, it was sold with three entries in the Guinness Book of World Records, including the most expensive model car, the most secure showcase (featuring bulletproof glass) and the most luxurious logo.

The car was also a full-sized beast under the hood with a V12 engine capable of producing 700 bhp. With that, drives can go from 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds. Check out this video:
