Bugatti reveals real life 'Gran Turismo' supercar

Petrolheads will be weeping salty tears of joy at the sight of Bugatti’s newest motor.

And gaming fans will have something to cheer about as well, as it turns out the new concept car from the manufacturer was inspired by Gran Turismo.

It’s called the Bugatti Vision Grand Turismo and was first created inside the blockbuster racing franchise that runs on Sony’s PlayStation consoles.

The in-game car was the first glimpse, but now Bugatti has revealed a real life version made out of carbon fibre and metal.

Whilst it’ll never reach it to production, the Vision Gran Turismo concept hints at what we might see from the next supercar it produces.

“Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo is the first stage on a new journey that Bugatti is embarking on following the successful completion of its Veyron chapter, and which will culminate in the unveiling of the next Bugatti super sports car in the not too distant future,” said Wolfgang Dürheimer, president of Bugatti.

Dubai Police supercar tops list of fastest law-enforcement vehicles

Dubai Police supercar tops list of fastest law-enforcement vehicles

Police in Dubai have no excuse to not catch a speeding motorist as they have the world’s fastest street-legal car in their arsenal, the Bugatti Veyron, which has topped a list of fastest law-enforcement vehicles in emerging countries.

Capable of hitting a top speed of 407kph, the 16-cylinder Bugatti Veyron churns out 1,200 horsepower, allowing it to reach 100kph in just 2.5 seconds, making it able to catch any speeding motorist. The vehicle is the jewel in the crown of Dubai Police’s fleet of luxury cars, which they use to promote their image and to encourage interaction with the public.

Dubai Police chief Maj Gen Khamis Al Muzeina said previously that the force uses the cars to enhance its presence at landmark sites, where a majority of tourists frequent, adding that the police stay up-to-date with the latest cars and technology to ensure the best safety and security services.

The force also has a Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 in its ranks, which is second on the list, a supercar that has recently been acquired by Vietnam as the Southeast Asian country looks to boost its ability to serve and protect. The Aventador, a feature in several police fleets around the world, tops out at 349kph, making other high-speed sports cars drivers think twice before putting the pedal to the metal.

Exotic car maker Lamborghini finds itself again on the list at number three with the Gallardo LP560-4. Accelerating up to 100kph in 3.7 seconds, police in Indonesia are only showing off this beauty in a shopping mall at the moment. If it ever hits the streets, the Gallardo will be capable of maxing out at 330kph.

A Gulf police force crops up again on the list as Qatari cops have a Porsche Panamera, which comes fourth. The Panamera, the country’s fastest police cruiser, can climb to a speed of 318kph. And with the Qatari government holding a stake in the German high-end car maker, Porsches make up the bulk of the nation’s fleet of cruisers.

Coming in at number five is the Chevrolet Camaro, which Mexican police patrol their streets with at speeds of up to 249kph. Although the Camaro is well behind the blistering speeds of the Bugatti Veyron, those on the wrong side of the law should take note that it can accelerate from 0-100kph in only 4.9 seconds.

Celebrating The Last Bugatti Veyron

Celebrating The Last Bugatti Veyron

It’s been 10 whole years since Bugatti launched the Veyron, forever setting new standards of luxury, exclusivity, and performance. It has long since become the benchmark for top speed and now, as it ends its production run, Bugatti will celebrate a decade of changing the game with the premiere of the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse “La Finale,” the 450th and final Veyron.

“The Veyron is a showcase for technology, design and art – in keeping with the Bugatti brand’s values of ’Art, Forme, Technique’,” says Wolfgang Dürheimer, President of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. This showcase also brings a high degree of individual exclusivity, and this version is no exception.

This final Veyron will feature a similar, yet distinct black and red two-tone color scheme to that found on the first Veyron chassis. The front wing panels, doors and side intakes are made from black exposed carbon fiber while the rest will be a deep red carbon fiber, something no previous Veyron has featured.

Inside, the La Finale is upholstered in a light beige leather, contrasted by a red tone called “hot spur,” which appears on the arm rests, instrument panel and dashboard.  The red carbon fiber from the interior also accents the inside, found on the center tunnel and on other inserts.

“La Finale” embroidery can be found on the head restraints as well as etched in the black carbon fiber door sill strips. Topping off all the unique attributes is the Bugatti elephant cast in bronze and featured on the stowage compartment panel, under which “450/450” is painted in black.

It goes without saying that the Bugatti Veyron La Finale will feature it’s main attraction: the 8.0-liter  W16 engine that packs four turbochargers, 64 valves, and it capable of producing 1,183 horsepower and a staggering 1,106 pound-feet of torque. The power is sent to all four wheels by way of a seven-speed dual-clutch sequential gearbox. All this results in the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse skyrocketing to its record holding 267.8 mph top speed.

Fittingly, chassis number 1 of the Bugatti Veyron will join the La Finale on stage at the Geneva Auto Show this week. Though, this car closes the book on an amazing chapter in supercar history, development is underway for the next mind blowing Bugatti.

“With the next Bugatti model, we are aiming to consolidate and expand the market-leading position we have established with the Veyron,” the Bugatti President Dürheimer states. “Our challenge is to make the best even better.”

Vandal paints penis on £1.5million Bugatti Veyron

This penis cost £0.5m to remove and is therefore possible the most expensive vandalism in history. Vandals supposedly spray-painted a giant penis on the bonnet of a £1.5m supercar.

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport is the world’s most expensive production car, and does nought to 60 in 2.6 seconds.

The Veyron boasts 1200hp, more than many dedicated racing cars, but is street legal.

The picture provoked Tony Stark, Iron Man, to claim that the vehicle was his on Twitter… (or it may have been an impersonator).

Commenters on Reddit exploded in masculine outrage, with many suggesting that you should never draw penises on another man’s ride, or, inexplicably, that anyone who might commit such a crime might well draw a penis on the Mona Lisa.

The real owner has yet to comment.

Driver Crashes £850,000 Supercar Into Lake For Insurance Fraud

Driver Crashes £850,000 Supercar Into Lake For Insurance FraudAn infamous motorist who was filmed crashing his Bugatti Veyron into a lake – in a video which became an internet sensation – has admitted the incident was an insurance fraud.

Andy House, 39, was unaware he was caught on camera as he drove the £850,000 supercar into the depths of a salt water lake in a flurry of spray.

The soaked driver, who now faces 20 years in prison, claimed he had been momentarily distracted by a low-flying pelican when reaching for his mobile phone, causing him to swerve uncontrollably.

As the Bugatti Veyron he had purchased one month earlier gargled in the water, Mr House clambered out but left the pricey 253mph car’s engine running.

The engine spluttered in Gulf Bay near La Marque, Texas, wrecking it beyond repair.

However, unknown to Mr House, footage of the incident – which features no low-flying pelicans – was uploaded to YouTube, where it was viewed four million times.

This lead to a major investigation involving the FBI, local police, Texas Rangers, the Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigation Division, and the Sheriff’s Office.

Bugatti to Succeed Veyron with 1500hp Supercar

Bugatti to Succeed Veyron with 1500hp Supercar

Bugatti, the maker of exotic supercars such as the 1,200-horsepower Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, is considering a model that some might feel contradicts the ethos of the extravagant brand: a hybrid.

The French manufacturer, owned by Volkswagen, has developed the blueprint for a 2015 follow-up model to the 0.99 million pounds limited-series Veyron that may sell out this year, two sources at VW group with knowledge of the matter said.

The two-door model may rely on a 1,500-horsepower, 16-cylinder engine and will probably be limited to about 450 cars, the same as the expiring Veyron, the sources told Reuters on Wednesday.

Bugatti’s new chief executive Wolfgang Duerheimer, a former R&D boss at Audi and Porsche who returned to the French brand on June 1, favours a hybrid version of the brand’s next model, the sources said on condition they not be identified because the matter is confidential.

Ultra-luxury nameplates such as Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche are embracing electric powertrains after being on the cutting edge for years in upgrading chassis and engine electronics while striving to trim CO2 emissions.

Hybrid systems used in McLaren’s P1 model and Porsche’s 918 Spyder work to boost performance and fuel economy.

“Moving to hybrid propulsion seems like a logical next step” for supercar-makers, said Stefan Bratzel, head of the Centre of Automotive Management near Cologne. “By curbing emissions and boosting performance, they can justify building more of these cars.”

The new model will beat the 268 miles top speed of Bugatti’s Veyron Super Sport, which lost the title of the world’s fastest production car in February to the Hennessey Venom GT, sources said.

“The new model will not be less exciting than the Veyron,” a spokeswoman for Bugatti said, without being more specific. “Our customers have certain expectations.”

Wolfsburg-based VW acquired the Bugatti brand in 1998 along with Lamborghini and Bentley Motors to create a stable of high-end carmakers. VW doesn’t break out Bugatti’s earnings in quarterly or annual reporting, but a company source says the brand has been loss-making for years on high development costs for the Veyron.

Under VW’s reign, the super-luxury brand, which traces its roots back to Italian-born car designer Ettore Bugatti, started production of the Veyron series in 2005. Some 430 of the 450 planned models have been sold, the spokeswoman said.
