Police in Dubai have no excuse to not catch a speeding motorist as they have the world’s fastest street-legal car in their arsenal, the Bugatti Veyron, which has topped a list of fastest law-enforcement vehicles in emerging countries.
Capable of hitting a top speed of 407kph, the 16-cylinder Bugatti Veyron churns out 1,200 horsepower, allowing it to reach 100kph in just 2.5 seconds, making it able to catch any speeding motorist. The vehicle is the jewel in the crown of Dubai Police’s fleet of luxury cars, which they use to promote their image and to encourage interaction with the public.
Dubai Police chief Maj Gen Khamis Al Muzeina said previously that the force uses the cars to enhance its presence at landmark sites, where a majority of tourists frequent, adding that the police stay up-to-date with the latest cars and technology to ensure the best safety and security services.

The force also has a Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 in its ranks, which is second on the list, a supercar that has recently been acquired by Vietnam as the Southeast Asian country looks to boost its ability to serve and protect. The Aventador, a feature in several police fleets around the world, tops out at 349kph, making other high-speed sports cars drivers think twice before putting the pedal to the metal.
Exotic car maker Lamborghini finds itself again on the list at number three with the Gallardo LP560-4. Accelerating up to 100kph in 3.7 seconds, police in Indonesia are only showing off this beauty in a shopping mall at the moment. If it ever hits the streets, the Gallardo will be capable of maxing out at 330kph.

A Gulf police force crops up again on the list as Qatari cops have a Porsche Panamera, which comes fourth. The Panamera, the country’s fastest police cruiser, can climb to a speed of 318kph. And with the Qatari government holding a stake in the German high-end car maker, Porsches make up the bulk of the nation’s fleet of cruisers.
Coming in at number five is the Chevrolet Camaro, which Mexican police patrol their streets with at speeds of up to 249kph. Although the Camaro is well behind the blistering speeds of the Bugatti Veyron, those on the wrong side of the law should take note that it can accelerate from 0-100kph in only 4.9 seconds.
