Stag do supercar wrecked in high-speed police chase

A groom missed his own wedding after he and his stag party were arrested for allegedly racing through Manchester in hired supercars, in scenes which police said resembled the high-octaneFast and Furious movies.

For his audacious stag-do, the 28-year-old groom and his five friends reportedly cruised through Manchester in supercars including a Lamborghini Gallardo, two Audi R8s and two AMG Mercedes, the Manchester Evening News reported.

But the celebration ended in disaster when police were called to reports of fighting in Manchester city centre at around 2am, and the group sped away.

Police then chased after the party for some 3 miles, from Dantzic Street to Failsworth.

Officers later arrested six men, aged between 20 and 28, after an Audi allegedly reversed into one of three pursuing police cars, The Sun reported. Three cars were recovered at the scene.

The six men were released on bail, but not in time for the groom to attend his wedding.

Greater Manchester Police tweeted of the incident: “Fast & Furious’ Groom + 5 mates were released at 10.30pm on bail. Not sure what the wedding arrangements are now…”

This Lamborghini must be a contender for Britain’s rudest number plate

This Lamborghini must be a contender for Britain's rudest number plate

So we’ve all had moments when taking a spin in the car drives us crazy but here’s one motorist you don’t want to get on the wrong side of.

This guy looks like he may very well have more money than sense.

We’ve heard of lots of bizarre private number plates that mean a lot of things to a lot of people – but F4K YO takes the biscuit.

What makes it all the more unusual is that this bright purple Lamborghini costs an astonishing £175,000 brand new.

It’s also surprising the Police haven’t had a few words with the owner as it is an offence to swear in a public place.

Section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986 makes it an offence to use threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, or to display any writing, sign or other visible representation which is threatening, abusive or insulting or likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

Parked up off one of the busiest and trendiest streets in London, the Kings Road in Chelsea, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera supercar has a powerful 5.2-litre V10 engine which gives a whopping a top speed of 202mph and 0-60 in 3.5sec.

So perhaps it’s just that the cops haven’t caught up with them yet!

Australian police appear to have a very expensive, very fast supercar

Australian police appear to have a very expensive, very fast supercar

The New South Wales police force may have watched The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift one too many times.

On Friday, the Instagram account of THE-LOWDOWN.com, an automotive-focused website, posted a photo of a pretty fancy sports car marked with police livery sitting on the back of a truck. The caption? Simply, “Game over.”

Spotted by news.com.au journalist Harry Tucker, who identified it as a McLaren 650S, the highly-powerful British car is apparently worth around A$450,000.

In his driving test for The Verge, Chris Ziegler reported the devastating experience of running over a pothole in another low-slung McLaren 650S. “The entire car shuddered with a smack that woke me more effectively than the La Colombe coffee I’d just finished,” he wrote. “It echoed in my brain for the next several hours. I can still hear it. No one wants to hear that sound; it’s the sound of sadness.”

Sadly, it became apparent there will be no lucky coppers cruising the streets in this thing. NSW Police have confirmed it’s only a sponsored vehicle that will not be in operation.

Lamborghini Huracán supercar owner uses DUCT TAPE to patch up damaged motor

Lamborghini Huracán supercar owner uses DUCT TAPE to patch up damaged motor

You’ve already forked out around £180,000 on a top-of-the-range supercar, making you the envy of your mates and turning heads wherever you go.

So what’s a measly few hundred quid to replace a broken wing mirror?

One sports car owner resorted to patching up his eye-watering expensive vehicle with duct tape, rather than splash the cash on having it done professionally.

Onlookers were stunned when two Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4s were pulled over by cops in Woking High Street.

And as the drivers were quizzed on the roadside, one eagle-eyed bystander noticed one of the supercars had a touch of DIY about it.

“It’s not often you see one of these cars in the street, never mind two of them together,” said the passing shopper.

“They must cost an absolute fortune, but the first thing I noticed about the green one was the black tape holding its wing mirror in place.

“I’d have thought if you spend so much on something, you’d want to keep it in good nick and looking smart.”

Officers first spotted the orange and green sports cars driving in an anti-social manner in Guildford town centre a matter of minutes before.

When police caught up with them, officers checked that both drivers had the correct documentation for driving the cars before the driver of the green car was then handed a warning for causing a nuisance to other road users.

A spokesman for Surrey Police said: “Officers stopped a Lamborghini Huracán in Commercial Way, Woking, at 6.15pm on Saturday following reports the car was being driven in an anti-social manner.

“The driver of the green Lamborghini was issued with a section 59 notice.”

Lamborghini driver has £180,000 supercar towed after being stopped outside police station

Lamborghini driver has £180,000 supercar towed after being stopped outside police station

A Lamborghini driver was left red-faced after his allegedly uninsured £180,000 car was seized outside a police station.

And towing away the luxury motor must have been sweet revenge for officers after the driver had given cops a ‘cheeky wink and the gun’ over the weekend.

Cambridgeshire Police say the saw a Huracan model without a license plate near to the station in Parkside, Cambridge, on Monday.

When they ran a check they say they found the vehicle was uninsured. Officers snapped the supercar being towed away on a recovery truck. The roads policing unit then Tweeted the pic, adding: “Even Lamborghinis need insurance.”

The local British Transport Police team then Tweeted: “How ironic, this same LamborGreeni gave us a cheeky “wink & the gun” near Cambridge Station on Saturday evening!”

Other Twitter users were also celebrating the driver’s downfall. One, @‏skydude1, added: “Can I watch you crush it?” While ‏@king_kieran asked: “If I insure it, can I keep it?”

The driver of the Lamborghini, which was a hire car, has been reported for summons by police – as has the hire company.

The supercar will be kept for 14 days – if the appropriate insurance documents are not provided in that time, it will sold by police.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire police said: “A Lamborghini Huracan was seized on the evening of the August 9 for not having the correct insurance.

“It was stopped for not displaying a front number plate, but it was then revealed it was not insured to be driven by the driver on this date.

“The driver has been reported for summons for no insurance and driving without a front number plate, as has the company he rented it from in Luton, for permitting the no insurance, and the owner of the car for permitting the no insurance.”

Gangster’s seized supercar collection to go under the hammer

Gangster's seized supercar collection to go under the hammer

When it comes to used high-end sports and classic cars, provenance is everything. If the car up for sale has been owned by a Beatle, Ayrton Senna or David Beckham, then the chances are that the price will be inflated to match.

Not all vehicles have such an illustrious history, however. Three bona-fide supercars and a leather-lined Rolls-Royce to be offered at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed sale – to be held at the British motorsport event on June 26 – were owned by a London gangster branded ‘Don Car-leone’.

Recovered from fugitive Alexander Surin by the National Crime Agency – after he admitted that they had been purchased with the proceeds of crime – and now up for sale under the Proceeds of Crime Act, the money raised by these high-end machines – which is expected to top £1 million – will go back into the public purse.

Most exotic of the cars seized, is a gleaming red Ferrari Enzo, which has covered just 1,285 miles and is predicted to sell for up to £800,000 – nearly twice its original price. Least expensive of the motors up for grabs is a black Rolls-Royce Phantom, with black alloy wheels.

Found with £800,000 of cash in the boot according to the Daily Mail, this machine “displays 9,630 miles on the odometer, which you should be aware is not the total mileage from new” according to auction house Bonhams, which is managing the sale. Unusually for a Roller, the Phantom is also for sale with no documents, which explains the relatively low £30,000 to £50,000 estimate.

Surin’s 2008 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, meanwhile, is set to raise between £60,000 and £90,000 having covered a mere 132km. A similarly low mileage 2009 Ferrari California is poised to sell for around £50,000 to £80,000.

Interestingly, all of these four cars are being sold without reserve, so buyers not put off by their colourful past could bag themselves a bargain at the sale next week.
