Bugatti reveals real life 'Gran Turismo' supercar

Petrolheads will be weeping salty tears of joy at the sight of Bugatti’s newest motor.

And gaming fans will have something to cheer about as well, as it turns out the new concept car from the manufacturer was inspired by Gran Turismo.

It’s called the Bugatti Vision Grand Turismo and was first created inside the blockbuster racing franchise that runs on Sony’s PlayStation consoles.

The in-game car was the first glimpse, but now Bugatti has revealed a real life version made out of carbon fibre and metal.

Whilst it’ll never reach it to production, the Vision Gran Turismo concept hints at what we might see from the next supercar it produces.

“Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo is the first stage on a new journey that Bugatti is embarking on following the successful completion of its Veyron chapter, and which will culminate in the unveiling of the next Bugatti super sports car in the not too distant future,” said Wolfgang Dürheimer, president of Bugatti.

Gran Turismo 6 vs Real Life

Gran Turismo 6 vs Real Life

Do you remember when Nissan launched its GT Academy back in 2008? If not, the idea was to find professional racers from a computer game. Gaming enthusiasts all over the world submitted their times on a unique race track on Gran Turismo 5, then the fastest 22 were invited to Silverstone to compete for a chance to race professional for Nissan.

Great, now that you’re ‘up to speed’ (sorry) here’s what’s happened since then…

Nissan’s GT Academy has become a genuine recruiting tool for the world of motorsport. This back door into racing is ever popular with gaming hopefuls. However there is still a huge gap between playing the game and racing a real car.

Above all else, the largest difference is fear. As you can imagine squeezing the ‘X’ button and holding full throttle in Gran Turismo is a lot easier than keeping your foot flat to the floor in a real car travelling at 100mph plus. Keeping committed to a corner in a game is easy, but in real life, you know a mistake will hurt.

Also in Gran Turismo a gear change is as quick as tapping a button – but in real life, every gear shift will lose you time. You are also usually slower to react on the brakes and accelerator, as well as being incredibly heavy-handed with the steering, as demonstrated in this video:

Whiskey a Go Go

Whiskey a Go Go

GTA’s Tequil La-La is based on the famous rock n’ roll nightclub ‘Whisky a Go Go’, located on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. It is featured in the Stranger side mission Vinewood Souvenirs – Willy, where Trevor Philips must collect a gold tooth from Willy.

It really doesn’t take a genius to work out that the Vinewood sign is based on the Hollywood sign!
