Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Drops Its Top

General Motors has pulled the wraps off its 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible, just in time for some spring-weekend dreaming about top-down driving. Top-down driving with 625 horsepower, that is.

The all-new Z06 drop top features the same powertrain as the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 coupe, with a supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V-8 engine that will be able to meter out “at least 625 horsepower and 635 lb-ft of torque.”

It will be offered up with a seven-speed manual gearbox, but it will also be available with the new eight-speed automatic transmission, which, Chevy has said, shifts faster than Porsche’s PDK gearbox.

The C7 Corvette was conceived, designed, and engineered as an open-top car, and the Z06, even with the greater forces, vibration, and torque that its body might be subjected to.

Regardless of what purists might think of such a ragtop, it’s certain that this newest Z06 will offer an amazing driving experience top up or down.

Polish Supercar Arrinera Hussarya Revealed In Production Form

Polish supercar startup Arrinera’s first product, the Hussarya, is nearing the end of its gestation, and soon production will commence at a new factory located in the city of Gliwice in southern Poland.

The design of the Hussarya has evolved considerably since it was first shown as a prototype in 2011, as confirmed by the latest images depicting the production version of the car.

Speaking with Autovisie, a spokesperson for Arrinera confirmed that an official debut for the Hussarya in its production form would take place this year and that the company anticipates building around 100 units per year.

Final pricing for the Hussarya is yet to be confirmed, though the company has previously suggested a starting figure of about $160,000, though we suspect this will be revised higher upon the car’s debut.

Leaked: McLaren 650S Revealed Ahead of Geneva Motor Show

Late last week McLaren announced it will be bringing a new model to the Geneva Motor Show called the 650S. However before McLaren has had a chance to reveal the new model, images have been leaked online.

It seems to be an MP4-12C with revised styling to more closely resemble the P1. It also features an updated interior and is said to be more powerful.

The name suggests a 650 metric horsepower output from what we can assume to be the same 3.8 litre twin turbo V8 that powers the 12C and the P1.

What remains to be seen is whether the 650S will replace the 12C or continue in production alongside it. The industry whispers seem to suggest that McLaren will run them both together and see how sales go…

2014 BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe Revealed

 It’s finally here: BMW’s four-door-coupe version of a coupe derived from a sedan. If that is a bit confusing, you’re thinking too hard. Just go with it.

BMW’s answer to a question no one knew to ask, the 2014 4-Series Gran Coupe puts a sleeker, trimmer look on the four-door F30, or adds a couple doors to the two-door F32, looked at from another angle.

Whatever angle you approach the new 4-Series Gran Coupe from, however, you’re likely to find something worth looking at.

Inside you’ll find the familiar design and equipment shared with the 3-Series sedan and 4-Series coupe.

BMW says the 428i Gran Coupe will hit 60 mph in 5.7 seconds and achieve gas mileage ratings of 23 mpg city, 35 mpg highway, and 27 mpg combined.

The more powerful 435i Gran Coupe runs to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, and is expected to rate 22 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined.

Though you’d think BMW would have to lengthen the 4-Series coupe to add the extra doors, the 4-Series Gran Coupe shares its overall length, wheelbase, and track width with the coupe.

The only exterior dimensional changes are a roof that’s 4.4-inches longer, and 0.5-inches higher for greater rear-seat headroom.

The 2014 BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe will make its global debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show next month.
