Bugatti reveals real life 'Gran Turismo' supercar

Petrolheads will be weeping salty tears of joy at the sight of Bugatti’s newest motor.

And gaming fans will have something to cheer about as well, as it turns out the new concept car from the manufacturer was inspired by Gran Turismo.

It’s called the Bugatti Vision Grand Turismo and was first created inside the blockbuster racing franchise that runs on Sony’s PlayStation consoles.

The in-game car was the first glimpse, but now Bugatti has revealed a real life version made out of carbon fibre and metal.

Whilst it’ll never reach it to production, the Vision Gran Turismo concept hints at what we might see from the next supercar it produces.

“Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo is the first stage on a new journey that Bugatti is embarking on following the successful completion of its Veyron chapter, and which will culminate in the unveiling of the next Bugatti super sports car in the not too distant future,” said Wolfgang Dürheimer, president of Bugatti.

Introducing The Supercar For Superyachts

Introducing The Supercar For Superyachts

It’s a given that a number of the gleaming vessels on show at this month’s Monaco Yacht Show (taking place from September 23 to 26) will feature helicopters on deck – in superyacht circles having a helipad and complementary aircraft has become almost de rigueur. More likely then, to impress a roving billionaire eager to pick up a new boating accessory is a novel supercar created specifically for superyachts.

Launched by yachting company Camper & Nicholsons in collaboration with Briggs Automotive Company, the Marine Edition Mono is capable of reaching 170mph and can go from 0-60mph in just 2.7 seconds yet weights only 580kg. That relatively light weight means it can be hoisted fairly easily onto land and deployed to discover the surrounding streets when the yacht docks, but for superyacht owners who prefer to spend their time at sea its main purpose could simply be to serve as the ultimate showboating frivolity.

To make sure it looks the part wherever it ends up, owners can customise the interior and exterior to match their yachts’ colour schemes. The seat will be made to measure, for example, and the name and port of the superyacht with which the car is associated will be etched on the car’s rear wing.

In response to the unconventional perch the Marine Edition Mono will occupy, other technical features have been subtly adapted too. Protective coatings on the car’s body and all exposed metallic components will protect against salty air and water and corrosion. Handily, the car is also supplied with a carbon-fibre crane arm that is compatible with all yacht crane systems and which can be used to transport the automobile onto solid ground.

Though none of the newly launched made-to-order cars has been commissioned as yet, Camper & Nicholsons says that the response has been enthusiastic: “We have had a great response and are in discussions with several interested parties.” Those who do wish to purchase one of the cars can expect to pay about £500,000 (plus delivery and VAT where applicable). The cars will be designed and built in Liverpool and manufacturers expect they will be able to produce one car per month if built to their standardised specification.

Floyd Mayweather buys exclusive $4.8million sports ‘hyper car’

Floyd Mayweather buys exclusive $4.8million sports 'hyper car'

Floyd Mayweather continued to live up to his ‘Money’ nickname – by buying the flashiest car on the market.

The pound-for-pound best fighter in the world posed with his brand new buy, a Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita ‘Hyper Car’ in a plush garage in America.

Koenigsegg have produced just two Trevita cars and Mayweather has his hands on the second. It is also the only one in the United States.

The exclusive manufacturer is branded as the ‘ultra automobile manufacturer for the super rich’ – perfectly fitting Mayweather’s billing as the most wealthy sportsman on the planet.

Writing on Instagram, he said: “My new 4.8 Million dollar car. $4,800,000.00 Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita supercar.”

Mayweather is currently preparing for the 49th – and likely final – fight of his career, when he takes on Andre Berto later this year.

But he certainly does not expect to lose, as earlier this month he listed himself as the greatest boxer of all time when naming his top five boxers ever.

Lamborghini Huracán supercar owner uses DUCT TAPE to patch up damaged motor

Lamborghini Huracán supercar owner uses DUCT TAPE to patch up damaged motor

You’ve already forked out around £180,000 on a top-of-the-range supercar, making you the envy of your mates and turning heads wherever you go.

So what’s a measly few hundred quid to replace a broken wing mirror?

One sports car owner resorted to patching up his eye-watering expensive vehicle with duct tape, rather than splash the cash on having it done professionally.

Onlookers were stunned when two Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4s were pulled over by cops in Woking High Street.

And as the drivers were quizzed on the roadside, one eagle-eyed bystander noticed one of the supercars had a touch of DIY about it.

“It’s not often you see one of these cars in the street, never mind two of them together,” said the passing shopper.

“They must cost an absolute fortune, but the first thing I noticed about the green one was the black tape holding its wing mirror in place.

“I’d have thought if you spend so much on something, you’d want to keep it in good nick and looking smart.”

Officers first spotted the orange and green sports cars driving in an anti-social manner in Guildford town centre a matter of minutes before.

When police caught up with them, officers checked that both drivers had the correct documentation for driving the cars before the driver of the green car was then handed a warning for causing a nuisance to other road users.

A spokesman for Surrey Police said: “Officers stopped a Lamborghini Huracán in Commercial Way, Woking, at 6.15pm on Saturday following reports the car was being driven in an anti-social manner.

“The driver of the green Lamborghini was issued with a section 59 notice.”

Ferrari Italia supercar hired for wedding is written off by guest

Ferrari Italia supercar hired for wedding is written off by guest

The owner of a luxury car hire firm has described his dismay after one of his most expensive vehicles was totalled in Luton.

Police were called to Selbourne Road at 7pm and officers arrived to find that a £210,000 Ferrari Italia 458 had crashed through a wall and was somehow wedged underneath a private hire car.

Remarkably no-one was injured in the collision.

At the time of the incident the supercar was on loan from Shoreham-On-Sea firm Prestige Lifestyle for £850 a day.

The 29-year-old man, who has not been named, who rented the vehicle told the company that it was to be used in a wedding.

He has lost the £5,000 deposit he placed at the time of booking the car, which had just 4,600 miles on the clock.

Prestige Lifestyle co-owner Jamie Ford said: “‘When I saw what had happened I was absolutely devastated.

‘They have done a really good job of crashing it and writing it off. It took three minutes for the insurance assessors to write it off.

“I just wish people had more respect for super cars.

“People need to realise that they are not invincible.”

Lamborghini’s Newest Supercar Is Insane – And So Is Its Name

Lamborghini's Newest Supercar Is Insane - And So Is Its Name

Perhaps the only thing Lamborghini likes more than building bedroom poster supercars is building special editions of those bedroom poster supercars.

They come out from time to time, and Lambo unveiled the latest at the Quail motor show, one of the many swanky events that surround the annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elégance.

It’s got a name only Lamborghini could come up with: the Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster. That’s more than a mouthful, but it tells you everything you need to know, so let’s break it down.

The Aventador is the company’s flagship, starting just south of $400,000. LP stands for longitudinal posteriore, referring to the longitudinally mounted engine, which means it is mounted so the crankshaft is oriented front-to-back. It’s standard for Lambo’s supercars.

It’s in the back half of the name that things get interesting.

The number 750-4 signifies how much power the car creates and how it hits the pavement. Those 750 ponies gallop out of an enormous 6.5-liter V12, propelling the 3,472-pound beast (down 110 pounds from the standard Aventador Roadster) to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds. Top speed is 217 mph. The “4” indicates the car has all wheel drive, a setup roughly similar to that of the Audi Quattro system.

Lamborghini reserves the Superveloce moniker for its fastest, purest sports cars. This limited run of 500 vehicles marks the first time a series-produced convertible has been so designated.

It’s the brand’s way of telling everyone this is a very, very special car. Superveloce, which roughly translates to “super fast” or “high speed”, Lamborghini has applied it to a number of its supercars, including special versions of the Murciélago, Diablo, and the Miura.

Then we come to roadster, perhaps the best word on that list. The car has a custom two-piece carbon fiber hardtop that can be stowed in the cargo compartment, giving the driver and a passenger access to 93 million miles of blue sky.Perfezione.

Lambo boss Stephan Winkelmann says the car “represents our commitment to satisfying our passionate clients with immensely emotional driving dynamics combined with an extraordinary open air experience.”

In other words, his team has built a stupefyingly fast convertible that it hopes will beat the pants off anything that other Italian supercar company might build.

All we know is that, even with a starting price of $530,075, the Italians shouldn’t have trouble selling all 500 Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadsters. And a few more bedroom posters, too.
